The SKP Saguaro co-op is powered by volunteers through a number of different committees. This page lists our committees; click the arrow icon next to any committee for a brief description of its purpose and responsibilities.

Long-term rentersshort-term guests, and even SKPs on the Hot List can participate as members (but not officers) on any committee except those that are indicated below as open only to leaseholders. For further information about any committee, please contact its chairperson. (Names and email addresses of committee chairs are available upon request from the office.)

ARCHITECTURAL

Leaseholders only

Ensure that the co-op maintains and enhances its high quality of
recreational vehicle living at a reasonable cost through
established building construction standards. The committee
serves to protect the property values for leaseholders, facilitate
equitable property transfers, and maintain an attractive and safe
place for all members and guests to enjoy.

AUDIT

Leaseholders only

Review the accuracy of the Co-op’s accounting records and
reports.

BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Leaseholders only

An elected group that oversee the business of the Co-op.

BUDGET

Leaseholders Only

Assist the Board of Directors, Treasurer, and Managers to be effective financial managers and meet their fiscal responsibilities.

BYLAWS

Leaseholders Only

Review the current bylaws of the co-op and, as required, recommend to the Board of Directors proposed amendments for the benefit of the Co-op as a whole

CACTUS WRENS

Leaseholders, Long-Term Renters and Guests

Support and improve the co-op and its programs through fund-raising projects and activities. All funds raised are to further this purpose

CHANNEL 5

Leaseholders, Long-Term Renters and Guests

Provide general informational items and notices about ongoing events and activities within the Co-op to benefit leaseholders and guests through digital devices via the Co-op’s cable Channel 5 and over-the-air networks

CHANNEL 43

Leaseholders, Long-Term Renters and Guests

Provide a means of passing on information and entertainment to the co-op residents using Channel 43 on the park TV system. Channel 43 will provide park information in greater detail using video presentations such as (1) videos recorded at Clubhouse activities; (2) special video projects; (3) videos of interest to park residents; and (4) some commercial videos as appropriate, e.g. RV Repairs and Fire Safety videos.

CLUBHOUSE

Leaseholders, Long-Term Renters and Guests

Provide for leaseholders and guests programs of activities, social events, entertainment, educational programs, seminars, etc., that meet the needs of the co-op and maximize the use of the Clubhouse facilities.

ELECTION

Leaseholders Only

Conduct elections in accordance with the bylaws.

FOUNDERS PARK

Leaseholders, Long-Term Renters and Guests

To develop, maintain and improve the area designated as Founders Park, including the pavilion. To coordinate a reservation calendar for special events such as, but not limited to, block parties, potlucks, and holiday celebrations for residents and guests of the co-op.

GRIEVANCE

Leaseholders only

Ensure impartial, objective investigation of grievances or disputes involving Co-op governing documents and give members involved an opportunity to be heard. Educate non-complying members and encourage compliance and resolution. Ensure each member’s due process. If a dispute cannot be resolved, submit a formal report to the Board of Directors with recommendations.

HELPING HANDS

Leaseholders, Long-Term Renters and Guests

Provide short-term assistance to leaseholders and guests in their time of need (e.g., injury, illness, or death) for an initial period of one week. The need for additional assistance is subject to review on an individual basis. The Escapees RV club good neighbor policy of caring and sharing provides the guidelines for this assistance. It is no one’s intent to refuse aid or assistance within reasonable bounds to members with temporary disabilities or limitations. However, the Co-op does not have the resources or expertise to provide nursing, custodial, or rehabilitative care. Co-op policy, dated June 1, 2000, (Stite’s letter) defines the point where committee assistance ceases to be appropriate. It is essential that leaseholders and committee members recognize and accept that determination.

LANDSCAPING

Beautify the co-op by landscaping and maintaining the common areas in cooperation with the Facilities Manager and assist leaseholders by providing information and education on landscaping.

LONG-RANGE PLANNING

Leaseholders only

Provide planning to improve the facilities and services available to members and provide a vision for the future direction of the co-op.

MARKETING

Leaseholders, Long-Term Renters and Guests

To develop, implement and maintain the co-op Marketing Goals in order to ensure the co-op continues to thrive as an active RV lifestyle community.

PARKING

Leaseholders, Long-Term Renters and Guests

Assist guests in parking recreational vehicles on assigned lots. Protect, to the extent possible, co-op property and the property of leaseholders

PROPANE

Leaseholders and Long-Term Guests

Furnish propane at a reasonable price to all leaseholders and guests

RULES

Leaseholders only

Recommend to the Board of Directors rules for the benefit of the co-op as a whole and to inform co-op management of any violations of said rules.

SECURITY AND SAFETY

Leaseholders, Long-Term Renters and Guests

Consider, assess and recommend solutions to issues related to security and safety within the co-op.

TECHNOLOGY

Leaseholders, Long-Term Renters and Guests

Harness technical knowledge and skills to provide expertise, research, and advice to the Board of Directors and to co-op committees.

VOLUNTEER COORDINATING

Leaseholders, Long-Term Renters and Guests

Promote SKP involvement opportunities for new co-op members and long-term guests. Enhance the workings of the co-op by engaging members and guests to feel welcome and comfortable to become volunteers. Encourage contributing to the functioning of co-op through identifying and utilizing individual skills and interests.

WELCOME

Leaseholders, Long-Term Renters and Guests

Personally welcome first-time guests to the co-op. Encourage guests to become participants in co-op activities.

WORKSHOP

Leaseholders, Long-Term Renters and Guests

Ensure a safe workshop environment. Provide safe equipment and instructions to minimize liability to the co-op. Minimize the misuse of all equipment and minimize theft. Provide assistance to those who wish to use the equipment and who are willing to learn and abide by the established rules.
